The 33rd COUPE ICARE | The next COUPE ICARE (Icarus Cup) will be held September 21st – 24th, 2006 on the combined sites of St Hilaire du Touvet-Lumbin.
This new edition offers the following programme …
| The International Free Flight Film Festival
Starting Thursday at the south launch.
Documentaries, clips, fiction, adventure and exploration films .... long and short features .... pertaining to the themes of: air, wind, flight or any of the air sports!
New Feature : The Film Festival will be moved to the south launch
- To accomodate a bigger crowd under a larger marquee
- With a wider screen !
- A magic atmosphere (the south launch) where evening film projections and other shows will alternate
ICARE EXPO : Air Sports Trade Fair
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
A "must " for all free flight professionals
With over 100 stands specialized in air sports - 5500m under marquee
Second hand market for wings, canopies, flying machines – 10,000m outdoors
New Feature : The covered Expo area will have an additional 450m!

Aerobatics (hang gliding and paragliding), speed gliding, parachuting, wingsuit, sail planes, pulma, paramotors, hot air balloon races, ultralights, Air Force aerobatics, ... not to mention kite flying, ....

Adieu to the Turbulence Festival

« The Turbulence Festival, which succeeded the Rock'n Vol evenings, animated the south launch so successfully for 4 consecutive years that the audience and organization grew exponentially to proportions that would now require a professional outfit to set up in a closed area with paid entry fees, heightened security and law enforcement, etc.... taking us too far from the original spirit of the Festival.
We extend our sincere appreciation to those who allowed this extraordinary musical adventure to happen, namely the associations : « Les Turbulences » and « Parateam »
The Cafeteria soirées will however be maintained.
Other Shows
The Kids Corner will encompass : numerous paper airplane contests, a wind garden, a variety of interactive stands and shows related to wind, air and flight!

2006 NOVELTIES
- Christian Moullec will fly with his flock of geese
- Jean Marc Mouligné - « canonball man » - will present his film.
- The "ornithopter" Ryszard Szczepanski (Poland) : a revolutionary aircraft with bird-like wings that flap.
- The Saggara by Raoul Di Lorenzo (Venezuela) : a magnificent foot-launchable sailplane.
- Flight of the sailplane and wingsuit aerobats (Loïc Jean-Albert)
- The Eagles of Leman will attempt a 1st : an eagle will launch from the masquerade launch site and land at the Lumbin landing zone – Saturday and Sunday at 4 :30 p.m.
- World record : 2000 Tura made Brazilian hot air balloons released simultaneously from the South launch, Friday evening at 10 :00 p.m.
